Strength, Yoga, VO2Max, Meditation…basic and foundational work to focus the youth athletes’ mind and body.

  • 45-60 minutes of strength & conditioning

  • 45 minutes of yoga & meditation

During the strength training portion we will cover rudimentary warm-ups and joint mobilizers specific to the needs of swimmers, then we will begin the basics of firing up the nervous system - working on jumps and power exercises which will help off the starting blocks and during flip-turns. Strength-training basics are relegated to the likes of calisthenics and light-weight exercises. During Saturdays, if the students choose the extra day of practice we will cover extra conditioning and VO2Max exercises to increase lung capacity.

Yoga is an excellent way, to not only meet the mobility demands of swimming, but also develop control of the mind for better focus during competition as well as better breathing mechanics. Yoga benefits transcend the physical!

NOTE: Saturday is Strength-training ONLY, the first 60 minutes is a longer training session and the last 30-minutes is an optional dip in the cold water! The kids are welcome to stay and cheer on their mates or you can pick them up around 1500 (3pm)
